The stars form figures in the night sky if looked at carefully. There are 88 such patterns in the sky and these are called constellations. Twelve of the figures formed by the stars are the zodiac signs while the rest are from Greek mythology. Before the modern day navigational aids were found travelers and sea farers found their way by reading the night sky. Ships and aircrafts depended largely on the getting directions which they had to take, from these signs of astronomy.
