Aaron who was the brother of Moses and a Jewish High Priest had a breast plate that had 12 stones adorning it. There was supposed to be one for each of the tribes of Israel. Later in the New Testament of the Bible, the 12 stones were supposed to have been assigned to each apostle. The stones were later fixed to different angels and as time went by to the signs of the zodiac. Folklores around stones attributed remedies for ailments to various stones, and then they became good luck charms according to the birth month of the person.
